Don & Char's Trip

On June 23, 2004 Don and Char loaded up a large portion of their personal effects and drove from Fairbanks, Alaska to Saint Johnsville, NY in an effort to set up housekeeping in their second home. The plan was for Don to drive the 40-foot diesel pusher motorhome and pull a 20-foot cargo trailer. Char would follow in the GMC Envoy pulling a 12-foot cargo trailer. They calculated the trip to be 4,500 miles and with an average of 450 miles per day they would be able to complete the trip in 10 days.

The first three days they drove through heavy smoke from the many forest fires in Alaska, Yukon and British Columbia. Unfortunately during the whole trip they were in such a hurry that they did not take as many pictures as they would have liked to.

The world's tallest structure is the KVLY-TV mast near Mayville, ND, at 2,063 ft.	It is so tall that the day we visited, the top protruded through the clouds.	The evening of day-9.
